Servo Feeds

EF Series

EF Series feeds are designed to provide an economical means of employing servo feed technology to smaller presses without sacrificing build quality, accuracy, durability or power.

The EF Series is known for holding very accurate tolerances. The reason for this is their unique direct drive setup. This direct-coupled arrangement places the motor's encoder in-line with the roller, providing precise feed length accuracy.

EF-12 Servo Feed
EF feed with as 12" width capacity

The mechanical design of the EF Series also sets it apart. Consider all that is standard on every model: solid, matte finished rolls, air cylinder roll pressure and pilot release, planetary inline reducer, cluster gear power transfer and pivoting upper roll assembly for ideal gear mesh.

The EF series can be equipped with a pull-thru straightener to reduce space and capital investment in the overall feed line. See this link for more information.

Another significant difference between EF Series feeds and other models is power. Compared to similar competitive brands, some EF Series feeds may have 400% to 800% more torque!!

RF Series

The RF Series feeds are ideal for many medium to heavy duty stamping and cut-to-length applications. This series comes in 5 sizes, ranging from 4” to 8” diameter feed rolls in an array of coil widths. High torque servo motors drive either planetary or helical-bevel reducers make the RF series both powerful and precise.

feedlease RF servo feedThe exceptional mechanical design of the RF Series sets it apart from many other feed designs. Vertical tie-bars provide amazing structural rigidity. Spherical roller bearings support the feed rolls across the entire rated width of the feeder. The feed rolls come standard with matte finish for maximum gripping power.

RF Series feeds can be equipped with a pull-thru straightener to reduce space and capital investment in the overall feed line. See this link for more information.

feedlease RF servo feedThe roll pressure is applied by two adjustable stroke pneumatic cylinders. Roll pressure is adjusted by a supplied regulator. The same cylinders are also used for the pilot release of the upper feed roll. These cylinders are positioned well past the center point of the rolls to provide maximum power to the roll. The rolls lift and lower on a pivot, rather than up and down in a slide block, to ensure full gear mesh regardless of the thickness of the material. Many other standard features are included (see box below) that make the RF Series one of the best values of any servo feed in its class.

Controls

Feed Lease Corporation is proud to employ top quality controls on every servo feed. Each Feed Lease servo feed utilizes a Control Techniques drive for superior performance. Since no components of the electronic system are proprietary, you have the option to use your local distributor for any replacement parts.

Servo Feed ControlsAll feeds except EF) are PLC-based, allowing a wide array of functionality including four different jog modes, part recipe storage, and an integrated batch count. The standard control includes a feed complete output (optional on EF series) to use with simple press signal-feed/feed-signal press and cut-to-length applications.

Optional I/O are available for more advanced cut-to-length systems. Our optional Automated Line Solution allows any powered axis to be stored in the job recipe storage and automatically position when a given job is loaded. The optional Off-Site Remote Service adds to our 24/7 service commitment by allowing our controls service personnel access to the feed line controls remotely. We can take control of the feed line for troubleshooting and setup adjustment from anywhere in the world at a moment's notice, anywhere in the world!

Four-Roll Feeds

4-Roll Servo Feed
4 roll feeds from Feed Lease can be a good choice when running wide, lighter gauge material. Since four rolls contact the material instead of two, the per roll pressure can be reduced. For sensitive materials where not marking or stretching the material is critical, a 4 roll feed may be the best choice.

These feeds benefit from a few construction advantages worth noting: 1) The upper feed rolls are trunion mounted (i.e., rolls pivot rather than go straight up and down as with a slide block design). Trunion mounted upper rolls are the standard on most heavy-duty two roll feeders as they increase the mechanical advantage of the roll and maintain complete gear mesh at all times. 2) Upper rolls work together or independently. Unlike some other 4 roll feeders, Feed Lease four roll servo feeds allow all four feed rolls to work together OR independently. This adds flexibility in the line. In effect, you get a 2 roll and a 4 roll feed in one! 3) Two sizes are available - dual 4" diameter rolls and dual 5.5" diameter rolls All standard features and options of 2 roll feeds are also available for 4 roll feeds. Discuss your application with a Feed Lease sales rep to determine if your application is best suited for a 4 roll feed.

Feeder/Straighteners

feedlease

Power-CoreFeeder-Straightener The Servo-Powered Series of Feeder/Straighteners mark a huge advancement in compact feed line capabilities. It is ideally suited for heavy-gauge, high strength steels. Material up to 84” wide and up to ½” thick can be fed and straightened, even if the material is high strength. Different than a servo feed with a pull-thru straightener, this tested system is designed such that the entry and exit feed rolls along with all of the lower straightener rolls are driven together. This is accomplished with a huge servo motor, helical-bevel reducer and gear train. As impressive is that all upper rolls (straightener too) will lift for pilot registration using a heavy-duty pneumatic or hydraulic system (a much heavier-duty design than the pilot release systems available on pull-thru straighteners). A great benefit of the design is that the straightener rolls, while able to lift for pilot registration, are still independently adjusted. This gives them greater depth penetration and flexibility when compared to bank-adjusted and pull-thru straightener designs.
Power-CoreFeeder-Straightener
A great benefit of the design is that the straightener rolls, while able to lift for pilot registration, are still independently adjusted. This gives them greater depth penetration and flexibility when compared to bank-adjusted and pull-thru straightener designs.

To illustrate the differences between this design and many servo feed/pull-thru straightener designs, consider just the straightener side plate. For some pull-thru straighteners, the side plate thickness will range between 3/8” and 1¼”. Comparatively, the Extreme-Duty feeder/straightener has an outer side plate thickness of 2”. Since the upper roll assembly is built separate from the rest of the machine for added structural rigidity, the side plate for the upper rolls (inner side plate) is 2.5” thick! That’s quite a significant design upgrade over even so-called “heavy-duty” servo feeds with pull-thru straighteners.

Model RF-4-24 on a cabinet with optional pull-thru straightener in a typical stamping application. Note that the pull-thru straightener is equipped with available powered pinch rolls and has the "Airlift" feature. This feature allows the pull-thru straightener's upper rolls to open with the roll feed, allowing true "float" for proper pilot engagement. Model RF-8-60 (rated for 60”x.250”) shown with optional seven roll pull through straightener with our unique Airlift pilot release feature which allows the straightener’s upper rolls to pilot with the feeder’s upper roll.
